DANIEL GO FOUNDS PARAMOUNT IN MAY 1950

The company started its non-life insurance business as Paramount Insurance & Surety Corporation, quickly establishing a strong market presence in the small-medium retail business segment. Guided by experienced management and staff, Paramount quickly became known as the Bayad Agad™ company for its quick claims settlement.

·         1993 SEMPER INSURANCE CORP ESTABLISHED AS AN EXTENSION OF PARAMOUNT

To extend Paramount’s range of services to include the corporate and medium to large business market segments, Semper Insurance Corporation was created in February of 1993. Its strong emphasis on service excellence and reliability mirrors its corporate philosophy of Service is Our Policy

 

·         1997 STRONG PARTNERSHIPS, STRONGER PARAMOUNT

A new Paramount General Insurance Corporation was formed with the entry of two new strategic investors: the Lucky Tableware Group of Cebu, the Philippines’ leading manufacturer of glass containers, enamelware and porcelain ware; and the ANJ Group of the Tahija Family of Indonesia whose interests include financial services, infrastructure development, and mining.

 

·         2001 PLGIC ACQUIRES UNION INSURANCE SOCIETY OF CANTON, LTD.

Paramount acquired the Philippine operations of the Union Insurance Society of Canton, Ltd. from AXA of France, further strengthening its position in the Philippine general insurance industry. To reflect this new acquisition, Paramount General became known as Paramount Union Insurance Corporation

 

·         2002 PARAMOUNT BECOMES PLGIC WITH ITS EXPANSION INTO LIFE INSURANCE

By acquiring Netherlands-based AEGON Life N.V., AEGON Life Insurance Philippines, Paramount was granted a composite license by the Insurance Commission for life and general insurance. Renamed to its present name, PLGIC increased its Paid-up Capital to PhP150M.

 

·         2005 PLGIC GROWS FURTHER WITH NEW ACQUISITION

Continuing its strategy of organic growth and consolidation, Paramount acquired the Manila Bankers Life Insurance Corporation’s Individual Life Insurance Portfolio in 2005.

 

·         2006 PARAMOUNT, HERE TO STAY

On April 6, 2006, Paramount amended its Articles of Incorporation to extend its corporate life for another fifty years from the expiry date on April 22, 2009.

 

·         2010 MADALING KAUSAP IS BORN

Paramount became a familiar commercial presence with the launch of its Madaling Kausap campaign, reaffirming Paramount’s continued commitment to servicing its growing number of policy holders nationwide.

 

·         2012 PARAMOUNT JOINS FORCES WITH SONY LIFE INSURANCE PHILIPPINES

Attracted by Sony Life Insurance Philippines' unique, needs-based Life Planning sales channel, Paramount acquired the company's life insurance portfolio in 2012, thereby extending PLGIC's ability to service the entire market spectrum of the insuring public.

By 2014, Paramount has a total Net Worth of over Php1.4 Billion Pesos and assets exceeding Php 4 Billion Pesos.
